Artist Statement

My artistic practice begins with an attention to what is often overlooked: discarded objects, images that have lost their function, structures that exist beyond ordinary visibility, and parts of the body that cannot be seen with the naked eye. I celebrate these forgotten materials, not by restoring their former value, but by looking at them as entities capable of carrying another kind of value.

I work across film, installation, sculpture, and collage, using materials such as printed newspapers, discarded paper, electronic industrial waste, chemical plastics, X-ray film, and joss paper. I am drawn to what these materials have undergone and to their state after passing through another life: when an object no longer serves its original function, when an image no longer represents what it once recorded, or when a part of the body becomes present only through an external intervention.

I bring these materials and images into new relationships in order to shift the way they are perceived. Through this process, what is considered waste can become an object of attention; what is concealed can become an image; and what appears to have no value can become a site for questioning value itself.

I am interested in the fragile boundary between presence and disappearance, between what is retained and what is discarded. For me, art is not simply the creation of a new object, but a way of shifting something’s position within perception. Through my practice, I bring what has been forgotten back into view—not as remnants to be mourned, but as presences that continue to exist in another form.
